This old banded agate chung dzi was recovered from an archeological dig in north India. It is a beautiful stone, with a rounded squarish cross section. The bead’s chunky shape makes it feel like a piece of hard candy. It is nicely drilled with a large hole, slightly larger at one end. Beautifully translucent across the bead except for a rich deep coral at one end. The bead has a soft, almost creamy texture, and it feels great in the hand. We have a number of beads from this dig, and all are lovely.
The hole is approximately 1.5mm in diameter, making it easy to string on even a large cord. No chips or cracks.
