This large, banded agate was recently created, probably in India. It offers a deep brown patina with translucent banding on one end. Large hole of approximately 3mm makes it easy to string on even the thickest cord. A single 5mm chip on one face gives it an old look. We were originally told this was an old bead, but the slightly ragged edges of the holes gives it away as a new bead, although it does look as if it has been worn a good deal. Feels lovely in the hand.
